Wedding Reception Table Ideas | Cincinnati Wedding Planner

One of our favorite things to design for a wedding reception is VIP seating. Couples decide whether they want to sit with their wedding party and/or family or if they want to enjoy dinner alone at their own table. They can also decide to do something special for family tables or create a floor plan with more interest by mixing table shapes and sizes.

Here are a couple of fun ideas for guest seating and wedding party for your reception. Which one will you choose?

Traditional: Head Table

This is the style of wedding party that we are used to seeing for many many years. Your couple is in the center of a long table that faces guests while their respective parties sit in a line on either side of them. Typically, the wedding party does not have their plus ones at this table. A benefit of this style is the wedding couple can see everyone in front of them with no obstruction of view especially since this table is generally set up front and center on the dance floor.

King's Table

Our favorite to design since it's a wider, longer table where the couple can sit with their wedding party and even include their plus ones. Many couples don't realize this is an option for the wedding party and come to really be excited about using it for their reception. Sometimes couples create these kings tables for VIP tables as well so their families, for example, get a specially designed table and decor. There is an elegance about these "royal" tables since all guests face each other and actually enjoy dinner together.

Sweetheart Table

Perfect for couples who would like to enjoy their first dinner just the two of them. We like to do something different for this table to make it stand out whether it a different kind of linen, special vintage table, a gorgeous backdrop or flooding it with candles ... OR, all of the above. We like to set you apart from everyone else so you are on your own little island but can see all of your guests smiling faces when they clink their glasses for you to kiss!

Which choice will you go with? There are many ways to make whichever option you choose special and unique to you.
